Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors, in a semi-enclosed courtyard. Guests do not need to worry about getting rained on, however depending on the weather you may want an extra layer. Cocktail hour and reception will be indoors. All wedding events are on solid ground so any heel type will be fine, however, keep in mind Fells Point streets are cobblestoned.
What is the dress code for the ceremony and reception?
Black tie without the requirement of black tie. Wait, what does that mean? We are encouraging guests to get fancy! However, we understand black tie for suit wearing folks can feel very fashion limiting and be super duper toasty, so be fancy but don't feel like you have to wear a traditional tux or suit. We encourage fun and colorful bow ties, pocket squares, ascots etc. You could wear a delightful waistcoat instead of a jacket, or you could wear a kilt instead of traditional tux pant. The idea is to have fun! And not be limited by traditional wedding standards and to not sweat to death.
If it was not clear, this is the wedding to go all out for. Have a fascinator and want to wear it? Do it. What about a tophat? Why not? Have a show stopping dress? Wear it. Have a perfectly tailored suit you got married in, but have not worn it again in fear of upstaging the groom? Wear it.
We are starting to put together a mood board to help with outfit ideas and vibes, but it is not required only for inspiration if desired.
What is the dress code for the Welcome Party?
Cocktail attire. The venue is casual and has an outdoor space with art installation that also functions as a bonfire but Michaela, unsurprisingly, is taking every opportunity to dress to the nines despite a casual venue. To be frank, it would be weird if everyone is in jeans and sneakers and Michaela and John are looking like they have a photoshoot to attend to. Yes, it is silly, and not practical, but this is how are choosing to role. The bonfire area is not stiletto friendly, we suggest wedges and blocky heels instead. Consider bringing a light layer for the evening if you want to enjoy the bonfire.
Will there be an open bar?
Oh yes. Several in fact.
What will the weather be like?
